NE 181st ST Status Update 5/4/17: 

Paving on NE 181st Street is now complete! However, the no parking restriction along NE 181st ST within the project limits will continue through Saturday, May 6th. Work activities on Friday, May 5th will include utility adjustments in the roadway and fire hydrant work. The paint striping crew will be onsite this Saturday, May 6th at 8 a.m. to paint the lane lines and crosswalk. During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane at times. Motorists should expect some delays.

 

 

 

1) NORTH SIDE between 68th Avenue NE and 73rd Avenue NE

 
Project Description: 
The NE 181st Street Sidewalk (NORTH) project consists of approximately 400 linear feet of new sidewalk improvements on the north side of NE 181st Street between 68th Avenue NE and 73rd Avenue NE.  Improvements include pavement widening, curb & gutter, 8-foot wide sidewalk, storm drainage, street trees and grates, irrigation, street and pedestrian lighting (with electrical outlets at tree wells).  This work is consistent with the City’s downtown design standards and previously completed NE 181st Street improvements in the downtown area. 
 
Funding: 
The estimated project budget is currently $525,000 (rounded).  This project is funded by City of Kenmore and Washington State Transportation Improvement Board grant funds.
 
Status Update: 
Construction of the NE 181st Street (NORTH) project began in November 2016. The contract duration is 40 working days. The bid tabulation may be viewed here.

 

2) SOUTH SIDE between 68th Avenue NE and 73rd Avenue NE

 

Project Description:
The NE 181st Street Sidewalk (SOUTH) project consists of approximately 700 linear feet of new sidewalk improvements on the south side of NE 181st Street between 68th Avenue NE and 73rd Avenue NE.  Improvements include pavement widening, curb & gutter, 8-foot wide sidewalk, storm drainage, street trees and grates, irrigation, street and pedestrian lighting (with electrical outlets at tree wells),  utility undergrounding (PSE, Comcast and Frontier), and water main improvements (Northshore Utility District).  This work is consistent with the City’s downtown design standards and previously completed NE 181st Street improvements in the downtown area. 
 
Funding Project: 
The estimated project budget is $1,104,000 (rounded). This project is funded by the City of Kenmore, Puget Sound Regional Council’s Transportation Alternatives Program, United States Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant Program and Franchise Utility stakeholders (Puget Sound Energy, Comcast, Frontier and Northshore Utility District).
 
Status Update:

Construction of the NE 181st Street (SOUTH) project is near to completion.
