City of Kenmore Names Nancy Ousley Assistant City Manager
Kenmore, Wash. – The City of Kenmore is pleased to announce the appointment of Nancy K. Ousley to the position of Assistant City Manager. Her duties will include being responsible for performing analysis and initiating methods to improve City operations and programs, representing the City before other agencies and groups as assigned, responding to citizen requests for information, and assisting other members of the management team in the performance of a project or program.
One of Ms. Ousley’s key job duties will be to assist the city manager and the City Council in developing a comprehensive economic development strategy and will be working closely with the Kenmore business community. She will also be involved in the process for designing and constructing the new city hall facility. Ms. Ousley will provide oversight for the special events coordinator/communications position to ensure its continued success.
With more than two decades of government experience, Ms. Ousley has spent the past five years as an Assistant Director with the Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development. Ms. Ousley led the Local Government Division with a $780 million biennial operating and capital budget and its wide-ranging programs, including Growth Management policy services, infrastructure and capital financing through state and federal programs, and public safety community program administration. She was also instrumental in creating a new capital grant program for rehabilitating historic courthouses across the state.
Previously, Ms. Ousley was the Assistant Director at the City of Seattle Strategic Planning Office. She managed City activities in major redevelopment initiatives such as Safeco Field and other South Downtown redevelopment, devised a new mitigation payments program for area-wide transportation improvements, and worked with major property owners, public agencies and community members interested in redevelopment strategies.
“We are very pleased that Nancy has accepted this position,” said City Manager Steve Anderson, “and are confident that the community and Council will enjoy working with her. Everyone I have talked to about Nancy cited her networking skills and her ability to build positive relationships.”
Ms. Ousley holds both a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Social Work from the University of Washington. She also acquired a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from Washington State University. In 2005, the Washington Chapter of the American Planning Association presented her with the Myer Wolfe Award for Professional Achievement.
