Use of Fireworks Prohibited in Kenmore City Limits

In 2004, Kenmore City Council passed Ordinance Number 04-0204 making the sale, discharge or possession of any fireworks illegal (this includes safe and sane fireworks). The ordinance became effective June 18, 2005.
Kenmore, along with the rest of the region, is growing. As the area becomes more congested and more urban, the risks associated with private fireworks displays must be minimized for the sake of public safety.

There are safe alternatives. Attend a public display of fireworks - they are safe, the pyrotechnicians are trained professional, and displays are huge. The City of Kenmore will be hosting a public fireworks display at Log Boom Park starting at 10:00 p.m.

To help ensure we all have a safe and considerate Fourth of July, the City will increase police enforcement June 27 - July 4th. Anyone caught possessing or discharging fireworks, of any kind, will be cited by police and the fireworks confiscated. Fireworks offenses are misdemeanors with a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and/or $1000
