Welcome to the Planning Department information page. This page contains information about property zoning, short platting and long platting (property division), proposed commercial and multi-family projects.

Staff from the Planning and Community Development, Building, and Public Works departments are available to assist you with specific questions about your project and the application process; however, it is necessary to call for an appointment for submittal of:

  • Preliminary Long Plat Applications
  • Preliminary Short Plat Applications
  • Commercial Site Development Permit Applications
  • Reasonable Use Exception
  • Shoreline Substantial Development Permit Applications
  • Variances
  • All Type 2, 3, or 4 Land Use Decisions
  • Two or more New Single-Family Building Permit Applications

City Hall offices are open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The Planning Department and Building Department counter hours are from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

The Planning Division Permit Applications and Checklists page list the permit application forms (available to print out) to help you to begin to plan to apply for the permit you are seeking. All applications must be submitted in person at Kenmore City Hall. No permit applications will be accepted without all of the information listed on the appropriate checklist, including the required number of copies. There are fees associated with most development permits, either calculated or a flat rate. Staff will calculate those fees at the time of submittal.
