City of Kenmore
2007 Asphalt Overlay Program

View Map

Project Description:
The City of Kenmore’s asphalt overlay program is an annual street maintenance activity designed to prolong the life of the City streets.  By adding a 1.75” layer of asphalt on top of the existing pavement we are able to prevent roadway failures that may require costly street reconstruction.  Streets are identified for overlay using a pavement management program which rates street segments based on asphalt condition, traffic volume and location.

Traffic Impacts:
The City will make every effort to minimize your inconvenience during the paving project.  Typically we are able to keep one lane of traffic open while the other lane is being resurfaced, using flaggers to direct traffic through the work zone.  The paving operation generally requires one lane to be closed to traffic for 2-3 hours.  Occasionally, if the street is narrow or is a dead end cul-de-sac the entire street may be temporarily closed.  A City inspector will be on site at all times to answer any questions or be of any assistance you may need.
